Learn electric bass with a patient and experienced teacher. The skills you develop will apply to
any kind of music style--folk, rock, country, or blues.
If you've had previous lessons, we'll pick up where you left off.
If you are a beginner, the goal is to get you playing songs as soon as possible.
There is no charge for an initial consultation to answer your questions and see if we are a good fit for each other.
Cost: $17 for a 45 minute private lesson at my home studio in Old Southwest Roanoke.
All ages are welcome.
I trained in music through private lessons, Henrico County Schools, Richmond Symphony Youth Orchestra
and UNC Chapel Hill, and have passed the Praxis test required of public school music teachers in Virginia.
I play from sheet music and by ear and can teach both methods. I had seven years of private lessons
on the upright bass, was trained to play both classical and jazz, and played electric bass in a
wide variety of jazz, rock and folk ensembles.
If needed, I make "demo" recordings of songs, and email the mp3 to the student,
so he/she can play along with the teacher at home.
I'm also happy to work with students who have difficulty with rhythm.
I often use a drum machine or drum tracks to help students master the essentials,
and can email mp3s of drum tracks at various tempos.
I have a large selection of self-created instructional materials and am also happy
to teach from method books with accompanying CDs.
